Former Chair and current Director of ICOM, the UK Federation of Co-operatives.
Director of" Common Cause Training" since 1994 (responsible for managing the delivery of a wide range of ESF training and development programmes including social enterprise development).

  UKCC/ICOM
  Lead consultant on the research report Co-operating in Care and lead presenter of the research findings to Paul Boateng, then minister for health, and the think-tank Demos.
  Result: Recommendations on policy changes to facilitate the development of co-operatives to purchase and deliver care now under consideration by the Government.

North East Social Enterprise Partnership

Helped establish NESEP, ghost writer of the North East Social Enterprise Regional Action Plan, and working on the Public Procurement initiative.

Itermin project manager of SEP.  Work included review of systems, revision of programme and financial modelling

Social Firms UK

A range of services to SFUK including business planning, training, ideas generation events, support for franchising and co-ordination of Social Firms North East.
  City Challenge Succession Planning
  Organisational review and assessment of Newcastle City Challenges's Childcare activities leading to recommendation of preferred exit strategy.
  Result: Exit strategy adopted. Engaged to implement exit strategy. This led to the creation of a new organisational structure, award of a Lottery grant, and the securing of 72 childcare places.
  South Tyneside Community Appraisals
  Wide-ranging community consultation exercise and appraisal of secondary source information in South Tyneside, leading to an agreed strategy for the deployment of Objective 2 Priority 4 resources.
  Uniun Enterprise – Village Regeneration
  Design and project management of village regeneration project. Project activities include major property and housing redevelopment (value in excess of£4.5 million) and local business development..
  Result: Establishment of Uniun Enterprise Trust (sic) and a number of associated new businesses.
  Bury Council
  Evaluation of transnational ESF Intermediate Labour Market project, including a Home Office pilot town warden scheme.
  Result: In progress; recently employed for additional 'base-line' research in new areas.
  Healthnet
  Writing of £1.8 million New Opportunities Fund application to develop a Healthy Living Centre in South Tyneside.
  Result: In progress.
  Bureau Locating Information Services & Support (BLISS)
  Feasibility study for BLISS, a Tyneside umbrella body of disabled people, informal carers and the voluntary sector, into establishing an Independent Living Centre.
  Result: Work on centre development underway.
