Dr Guy Turnbull

Guy Turnbull BA(Hons) PhD has been involved in the social economy since 1988. In 1995, Guy established Enomic Partnerships Limited, a Northumberland based social economy research and development consultancy. He now works across the UK as a social economy consultant, specialising in business planning, project management, training, and research and strategic planning. This has included being involved in government policy development, planning and managing multi-million pound projects, helping establish some of the most successful social enterprises around, written books and much else besides.
Recent key achievements include:
- Driving the business development of Care & Share Associates Limited, through pioneering social franchising techniques. CASA is the UK's leading employee owned homecare social enterprise. With 4 CASA units in operation, and providing over 7000 hours of care per week, CASA is viewed by the Department of Health and others as a trail-blazer in health/homecare social franchising and replication.
- Creating ‘RED’ (Rapid Enterprise Development Workshops) - an innovative new training approach to social enterprise development
- Key architect of the innovative enterprise web-site www.redcic.co.uk
Guy was instrumental in the development of the UK’s North East Social Enterprise Infrastructure Organisation, and is the ghost writer of the North East’s Social Enterprise Regional Action Plan.

In terms of fund-raising and financial experience, Guy delivers well received workshops and seminars on financial modelling and fund-raising. These events are based on his substantial fund-raising experience which has involved designing and implementing financial models for a range of social enterprise projects including:
- A £300,000 expansion fund secured for a private social enterprise client
- Start-up finance for a range of social enterprises (see above).
- Securing significant (upwards of £5m) grant resource from Europe and elsewhere to support a range of social enterprise development projects including the North East Social Enterprise Partnership, SEP (GB) Limited, and South Tyneside Healthy Living Centre.
Guy is also a Trustee of Co-operative and Community Finance Limited (formerly known as ICOF), a long established and profitable Community Development Finance Initiative.
