Andy began his career as a pension’s manager for British Coal and then worked for eight years as a Manager (Human Resources), for BCSSS/CIN Investments.
He joined Mental Health Matters in 1995 and rose to become a Director of Business for the organisation. Here he was responsible for the development and operational management of transnational, national, regional and local strategies to socially include people with mental health problems.

Through this work he has gained wide experience of successfully bidding & accessing substantial ESF, SRB, LSC, Employment Services, New Deal, Trust Grants, and Public Sector (e.g. health & social service) funds to develop disability employment, training and social enterprise projects.
